The Lakers’ major first injury of preseason , with superstar Anthony Davis spraining his right thumb during Saturday’s preseason game against the Nets in China.
Davis initially stayed in after swatting a ball midway through the first quarter, but later returned to the locker room where he was ruled out of the 91-77 loss, the team announced.
The usually durable 26-year-old started at center as part of an ongoing lineup experiment, and finished with six points (2-of-7), three rebounds, two blocks and one steal in 12 minutes.
Davis was averaging 19 points (50 percent shooting), six rebounds, 3.5 assists and a block in parts of three preseason games.
The Lakers have not made the postseason since 2013, and gave up multiple unprotected first-round picks and a cast of young players to acquire the disgruntled star from the Pelicans this past offseason.https://youtu.be/CjvlQi2uLQk
